Closed platforms

Closed trading platforms or deleted accounts

Updated this week

📝 Description

If an exchange has closed or you have closed your account, you may not be able to retrieve your cryptocurrency purchase history. In this case, you will need to manually create a transaction for the FIAT amount you invested on the platform.

💡 The old "Closed platform deposit" label has been removed: the amount invested in FIAT very rarely matches the total amount withdrawn (example: you invested €1,000, but generated a capital gain and withdrew €5,000).

📂 Tutorial

1. Create a FIAT transaction for the invested amount

Create a transaction for the FIAT amount invested on the closed platform. Waltio will automatically record the corresponding acquisition price.

Example: You bought 1 BTC on Mt. Gox on January 1, 2013 for €10 and deposited this BTC on your Ledger on January 1, 2014 (value: €700). By creating the €10 transaction on Mt. Gox, Waltio records the acquisition price at €700 (BTC price on the date of arrival on Ledger).

2. Adjust the acquisition price if necessary

If the purchase date is earlier than the arrival date on a wallet or exchange recorded by Waltio, manually fill in the token price in the "My Transactions" section.

Using the example above, you can change the Bitcoin acquisition price to €10 (actual purchase price).

💡 Additional Information

Account closed on a platform that is still open

If your account was closed on a platform that is still open, contact the platform's support so they can send you a transaction history file.

Transactions without transfer

If you closed an account without transferring your cryptocurrencies to a wallet or another exchange, fill in the transactions manually in Waltio or use the Waltio format file.

Example: Purchase of 0.3 BTC for €5,000 then sale of these 0.3 BTC for €7,000 on Coinbase, with the euros sent back to the bank account. The Coinbase account is closed → transactions must be entered manually.

Personalized support

For cases like this (closed platform), an Account Manager from the Waltio team can fill in a Waltio format file for you. Contact [email protected] with details of your need.
