π Description
Here is a complete tutorial that guides you from A to Z through using Waltio. This guide covers adding accounts, managing transactions, generating tax reports, and completing your tax declaration.
π Step 1: My Crypto Accounts
The first step requires entering all your transactions on Waltio. To do this, go to the my accounts page. You can find all the exchanges, wallets, and blockchains we support there.
In case your platform or wallet is not supported, you can use a Waltio format file to enter them easily.
π‘ Click the "Waltio" button using the "Services" filter.
You can create your Excel file in XLSX format and upload it to the platform by following the tutorial.
Once you have found your platform, wallet, or blockchain, you can choose between:
Synchronize your account via API (a key pair system)
Upload your history file (an Excel/CSV file)
π‘ If API connection is available for your account, we strongly recommend using it. It's a real time saver. In fact, you won't have to add your future transactions to that account because they will be retrieved automatically. This also allows real-time tracking of your portfolio.
For each platform, a tutorial is available to guide you through retrieving your API key or account history.
π‘ Once your various accounts are connected, you can have a complete view of your API synchronizations and files on "My accounts". A message confirming that your transactions have been properly retrieved will appear at the bottom left of your screen.
π‘ It is essential to enter all your transactions since the very first on all your accounts to obtain an accurate calculation.
π Step 2: My Transactions
Once all your files and APIs have been entered, click on "My transactions" to move on to the next step and see all your transactions.
This step allows you to first verify that your transactions have been properly added.
If you notice missing transactions in your API or file, we invite you to consult the Waltio FAQ article for your platform to ensure that all transactions are retrieved.
To find a transaction or several transactions more easily, use the transaction filter at the top left of the page. You can filter transactions by:
Platform;
Token;
Date;
Transaction type (exchange, deposit, withdrawal);
Label;
Warning type;
Transactions containing warnings;
Taxable transactions;
File or API.
You can also adjust the number of transactions displayed on the page using the filter at the bottom left of your screen. 10, 25, 50, or 100 per page as needed.
If you need to create new transactions, you can use the new transaction creation page available at the top right of this page.
This will allow you to create one or more transactions at once in record time. Once you have entered your transactions, click "Add" at the top right of your screen.
π‘ You now have the ability to reconsider a taxable transaction as "Non-taxable". To do this, simply click on the transaction
and click the green "Taxable" button:
Step 3: Tax Report:
A tax report is automatically generated after adding your transactions. It will take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes depending on the number of your transactions. The remaining time is displayed at the top left of your screen.
You can view the details on the "Tax Declaration" page
Following this, you will be able to download (ONLY from the SMART plan) your 4 generated documents by clicking "All documents":
The tax certificate: File indicating the taxable amount and certifying the work done on the tool for your calculation.
The annual declaration schedule: File detailing the calculation of taxable transactions according to the tax authority format;
The general ledger: Document to provide during a tax audit to justify the declared amount.
The stock sheet: Inventory of your cryptocurrencies, for informational purposes.
π‘ In Lite or STARTER plan you can also finalize your tax declaration thanks to the "Required to File" section and our interactive tutorial by clicking "Start My 2025 Tax Declaration".

1- Negative Balances
Here is the perfect tutorial to understand and resolve your negative balances:
2 - Your Taxable Transactions
The calculation of capital gains requires knowing the total value of your portfolio at the time of each taxable sale. Here is the calculation formula:
Thus, during this step, our tool ensures that the prices of all tokens you own at the time of the sale are properly retrieved by our price aggregator partners.
If we don't have the price of one (or more) token(s) at the date of the sale, you will need to "correct taxable transactions".
Here's how to fix missing prices:
3 - Withdrawal Classification
It is possible that some withdrawal transactions do not have an equivalent deposit, so you will need to label these withdrawals.
Congratulations! You now have a tax report that is as accurate as possible. You can now use our tutorial for filing.
