In Spain, airdrops are considered capital gains and must be declared in your tax return. Learn how airdrops are taxed at the time of reception and when you sell them, as well as the corresponding tax categories for each situation. In Spain, airdrops are considered earnings and are taxed.

The tax system will depend on two situations :

- when you receive an airdrop ;

- when you sell an airdrop.

It will be taxable and must be declared as General Taxable base in the subcategory "Other capital gains and losses that not deriving from the transfer of assets".

You will have to declare the value of the airdrop received on the day of receipt.

The value is equal to the market value in fiat on the day of receipt.

Example :

January 2022 : I receive an airdrop of 10 DOT.

On the day of receipt, the value of 10 DOTs is equal to 100 euros.

πŸ“‚ When you sell an airdrop ;

If you sell the airdrop, the purchase price of the airdrop will be equal to the market value on the day of reception. The acquisition price will be the market value price at the time of receipt.

The gain or losses from the selling the will be taxable and must be declared as Savings Taxable base in the subcategory "Income from gains and loss that derive from the transfer of assets"

Example :

January 2022 : I receive an airdrop of 10 DOT.

On the day of receipt, the value of 10 DOTs is equal to 100 euros.

March 2022: I sell an airdrop of 10 DOT for 250 euros.

I realize a capital gain of 150 euros.
