Prices to confirm

Why is the price required and what to do when this error occurs

Updated today

πŸ“ Description

Capital gain calculation requires knowing the total value of your portfolio at each taxable disposal. If the price of a token is not retrieved by Waltio on the date of disposal, your portfolio will not be correctly valued.

We use data aggregator services from Coingecko to assign the exact price to each of your transactions.

Reasons why the price is not retrieved:

  • Today's transactions have no price because the data is not yet accessible from our data provider.

  • It may be a token whose value has changed significantly and you need to modify the price of your transactions.

  • To value crypto prices, we base ourselves on a daily average of the price retrieved from the various aggregators.

πŸ“‚ Correct missing prices

First, go to your corrections page, then filter your warnings to "Prices to confirm".

1. Method 1: The retrieved token price is incorrect

The retrieved price may be associated with the wrong token. Look at the retrieved prices and click on the one that corresponds to your token.

In this example, the retrieved price is associated with the wrong token. Indeed, I have SDT in stock which is actually the "Stake Dao" token and not "Stabledoc". These two tokens have the same ticker.

I then go to Coingecko to retrieve the correct price on the date concerned (here August 31, 2022).

I enter the price of €0.47 in the box and press the enter key.

Well done, your price has been updated! πŸŽ‰

2. Method 2: The retrieved price is still not correct

You may have purchased tokens that were not yet listed on major price aggregators like Coingecko on the date of your purchase.

Click on the blue "Open DexScreener" button, then search for the price of the token on the date concerned.

The price of the Krill token is $0.00089, which is approximately €0.00089.

If you want to be very precise, you can convert the price in $ on that date to €. Go to this site: https://www.zonebourse.com/bourse/devises/convertisseur/USD-EUR, then enter the value of your token in $ and the date of your transaction.

Finally, enter the price indicated in the associated box, then press the enter key.

Well done, your price has been updated! πŸŽ‰

3. Method 3: The token is unknown or a scam

Sometimes you receive tokens in your decentralized wallets or even on your exchanges that you have never purchased.

You should add these tokens to your "scam" list by clicking on the blue "Add to scam tokens" button.

4. Manually modify the price of a transaction

Correct on the "My transactions" page by following these steps:

  1. Click on the transaction in question to display the transaction details.

  2. Bring up the price comparator (by scrolling to the bottom of the page, right side of the screen).

  3. Modify the price of the token in question using Coingecko, for example. You should use the daily average.

πŸ’‘ If the price has a decimal, you must use a dot "." and not a comma ",".

In the event that a token had no price, we recommend assigning a price corresponding to 0.00001 because it is not possible to assign a price of 0 to a token in our tool.

If your token has no price, then you must, in good faith, estimate it. In most cases, unlisted tokens are worthless or very low value tokens.
