Prices to be confirmed

Why is the price required and what to do when this error occurs

Updated over 9 months ago

Hello πŸ‘‹

Once you have added your documents and your tax report has been finalised, you may be notified of certain warnings. One of these is the "Price to be completed" warning, which indicates that the price of the token in question has not been recognised by our price aggregators.

What is this warning?

Calculating capital gains requires you to know the total value of your portfolio at the time of each taxable disposal. If the price of a token is not recovered by Waltio on the date of disposal, your portfolio will not be correctly valued.

πŸ’‘ We use the services of data aggregators, also known as data providers such as Kaiko & CryptoCompare in order to assign the correct price to each of your transactions.

Why isn't the price recovered?

Today's transactions do not have a price, because the data is not yet available from our data providers.

This may be a token whose value has changed significantly and you need to change the price of your transactions (see below, changing the price of a transaction manually). The price has remained the same, in which case you should enter it in step 3.

πŸ‘‰ To value the price of the cryptos you have in your portfolio, we adhere to the portfolio valuation standard: we base ourselves on a daily average of the price retrieved from the various aggregators we use.

If you bought a cryptocurrency with a fiat currency or stablecoin, we will use the conversion of one against the other.

Ex: I buy 1 ETH at EUR 2,000 on 15 June. My ETH portfolio will be valued at an additional EUR 2,000.

How can correct uninformed prices?

First of all, go to your corrections page, then filter your warnings on "Prices to be filled in".

πŸ‘‰ Method 1: The price of the token recovered is not correct

The price recovered may be associated with the wrong token. Look at the recovered prices and click on the one that matches your token.

In this example, the price recovered is associated with the wrong token.
In fact, I have SDT in stock which is actually the token "Stake Dao" and not "Stabledoc". These two tokens have the same ticker.

So I go to Coingecko to retrieve the correct price on the date in question (in this case 31 August 2022). I enter the price of €0.47 in the box and press enter. Congratulations, your price has been updated! πŸŽ‰πŸ‘‰ Method 2: The recovered price is still not correctYou may have purchased tokens which, on the date of your purchase, were still not listed on the main price aggregators such as Coingecko. Let's take the example of the Krill token: Click on the blue button " Open DexScreener" , then search for the price of the token on 31 August 2022.The price of the Krill token is $0.00089 or approximately €0.00089. If you want to be very precise, you can convert the price in $ on this date into €. Go to this site: https://www.zonebourse.com/bourse/devises/convertisseur/USD-EUR , then enter the value of your token in $ and the date of your transaction. Finally, enter the price indicated in the associated box, then click on the enter key. Congratulations, your price has been updated! πŸŽ‰πŸ‘‰ Method 3: The token is unknown or a scamSometimes you receive tokens on some of your decentralised wallets or even on your exchange platforms that you have never bought. You should add these tokens to your "scam" list by clicking on the blue "Add to scam tokens" button πŸ’‘ To find out which tokens to add to your list of worthless tokens, you can follow this article .How can manually change the price of a transaction?Correct on the " My transactions " page by following these steps: 1️⃣ - Click on the transaction in question to display the transaction details2️⃣ - Bring up the price comparator (by scrolling at the bottom of the page, on the right-hand side of the screen) 3️⃣ - Change the price of the token in question using Coingecko for example. The daily average should be used. πŸ’‘ If the price includes a decimal, use a full stop "," and not a comma ".".a) Once on the Coingecko site, select "EUR".b) Enter the crypto in question (ETH) in the search barc) At the bottom of the page, identify the day's price using the chartd) Enter it in Waltio (price tab)e) Click on "Enter" or outside the box and the price is saved, then a confirmation message appears. If a token does not have a price, we recommend that you assign a price corresponding to 0.00001, as it is not possible to assign a price of 0 to a token on our tool. If your token does not have a price, then you need to estimate it in good faith. In most cases, unlisted tokens are tokens with no or very low values. πŸ‘‰ You can now add these to your list of worthless tokens .Congratulations, the new price is saved πŸŽ‰If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us via the Chatbot just at the bottom right of your screen! πŸ’¬ The Waltio team
