Find and download your Kraken transaction history

Updated over 2 years ago

Hi there πŸ‘‹

🎯 We strongly advise you to set up an API connection between Kraken and Waltio.

It is much easier doing it in that way. Setting up the API connection takes a maximum of 5 minutes when downloading the files can take more than an hour! In addition, setting up the API guarantees better data quality and therefore a better calculation of capital gains .

Nevertheless, if you wish to retrieve your transaction history follow the steps below:

Step 1: Log in to your Kraken account, hover your mouse over the menu icon (top right) and select History -> Export.

Step 2: Select "Ledger" from the drop-down menu.

⚠️ It is important to select β€œledgers” from the drop-down menu and not β€œtrades”

⚠️ If you use a French translation system for the page, the term displayed will be "Registre". The "trades" file does not allow you to calculate your capital gains amount.

Step 3: Select as start date, the date of creation of your account

If you can't remember it, pick a random date one year before you open your account.

Step 4: Click "Submit", wait a few seconds and click Download (you may need to refresh the page to see the document ready to download).

Step 5: Unzip and drop your CSV file onto Waltio.

⚠️ The fact of opening and saving a CSV file can sometimes modify it's structure, thus blocking automatic lecture by our program. Once files from Kraken files are downloaded please, do not open them or modify their names so that we can read it correctly !

Thank you.

⚠️ It is also important to decompress well the file (not to have it in .zip) ⚠️

If your file is not accepted on Waltio, check that the title of the file is "ledger" and not "trades"

πŸ’‘ OTC transactions cannot be retrieved and must be added manually

⚠️ Before 2020, Kraken sometimes delayed deposits or withdrawals by a few minutes, which in this case will create a warning.

In the example below, the withdrawal from Kraken must of course be before the deposit to the Ethereum Wallet. It must then be shifted by a few minutes to reverse the transactions.

πŸ’‘ Kraken rollovers are fees associated with keeping a position open and can be earned or charged. Generally, they are therefore deducted from the portfolio value by Waltio. Rollovers can be negative, positive or equal to 0 and carry fees. If the amount of rollovers is greater than or equal to 0, then Waltio creates a deposit transaction. Otherwise, Waltio creates an indent. It is always possible to view this on the transaction fees.
